When do I need a permit?

  • If you wish to visit a remand prisoner, you will need a written visit permit if the court or the public prosecutor's office has ordered corresponding restrictions.
You will obtain a visit permit from the court competent for the proceedings or from the competent public prosecutor's office. The written permit must be presented here.

  • If no visiting restrictions are imposed, the remand prisoner can be visited at the JVA Münster without a visit permit upon presentation of a valid national identity card.

Duration of visit:

  • Inmates can receive visits up to a maximum duration of 2 hours per month. For administrative reasons, visits to prisoners or remand prisoners will be arranged twice monthly, lasting 60 minutes each.

  • Two additional hours are to be allowed for the special promotion of visits by underage children of inmates. For administrative reasons, these must last at least one hour each time.

Other regulations:

  • Admission is only granted upon presentation of a valid national identity card.
  • Persons under the age of 14 can only be admitted if accompanied by a legal guardian.
  • Unaccompanied minors aged 14 and over must submit a written declaration of consent from a legal guardian.
  • As a rule, no more than 3 persons (4 persons in the presence of children) are admitted at the same time.
  • A vending machine (sweets, soft drinks and tobacco products) is available in the visiting room. Up to € 27.00 in coins (in € 1 and 50 cent pieces) may be brought in per visit, but a maximum of € 54.00 per month for each inmate.
